This one should keep us all thinking.
This is a true story of something that happened just a few years ago at USC. There was a professor of philosophy there who was a deeply committed atheist. His primary goal for one required class was to spend the entire semester to prove that God couldn't exist.His students were always afraid to argue with him because of his impeccable logic. Sure, some had argued in class at times, but no one had ever really gone against him because of his reputation.
At the end of every semester on the last day, he would say to his class of 300 students, "If there is anyone here who still believes in Jesus, stand up!" In twenty years, no one had ever stood up. They knew what he was going to do next. He would say, "Because anyone who believes in God is a fool". If God existed, he could stop this piece of chalk from hitting the ground and breaking. Such a simple task to prove that He is God, and yet He can't do it."
And every year, he would drop the chalk onto the tile floor of the classroom and it would shatter into a hundred pieces. All of the students would do nothing but stop and stare. Most of the students thought that God couldn't exist. Certainly, a number of Christians had slipped through, but! for 20 years, they had been too afraid to stand up.
Well, a few years ago there was a freshman who happened to enroll. He was a Christian, and had heard the stories about his professor. He was required to take the class for his major, and he was afraid. But for three months that semester, he prayed every morning that he would have the courage to stand up no matter what the professor said, or what the class thought. Nothing they said could ever shatter his faith...he hoped.
Finally, the day came. ! The professor said, "If there is anyone here who still believes in God, stand up!" The professor and the class of 300 people looked at him, shocked, as he stood up at the back of the classroom.
The professor shouted, "You FOOL!!!
If God existed, he would keep this piece of chalk from breaking when it hit the ground!"
He proceeded to drop the chalk, but as he did, it slipped out of his fingers, off his shirt cuff, onto the pleat of his pants, down his leg, and off his shoe. As it hit the ground, it simply rolled away unbroken. The professor's jaw dropped as he stared at the chalk. He looked up at the young man, and then ran out of the lecture hall.
The young man who had stood, proceeded to walk to the front of the room and shared his faith in Jesus for the next half hour. 300 students stayed and listened as he told of God's love for them and of His power through Jesus.

This quote came from Chicago High School legend William Gates. This holds true for so many young phenoms in any sport. There are a lot of free-loaders, street cats, and so-called-"relatives" that hang aroung and mooch off of these youngsters because they feel that the particular athlete has a chance to make it big. Their thinking is, if this kid makes it, then we all make it. They want to be in the spotlight when the kid goes to the league, but what happens if the kid doesnt make it? I have seen it all too many times that all of your so called homeboys and friends dissappear when the fame is gone. So keep your friends close and your enemies closer. So for all you blue chip athletes stay true to your day 1 friends. Keep a close and tight knit inner circle. Im not saying to not make any new friends and acquaintances along the way, but separate the real from the fake. Know who is really there for your well being and keep the the people with their hands out at a distance. Just a little advice from me to you.

Sean Combs said this profound statement in a recent interview. What he meant was too many people say what they want to do and what they want to accomplish but they dont take the necessary steps. They have ambitous and lofty goals but dont want to put the work in to make it. Educate yourself. If you want to be a business owner ,intern at a local business, ask questions, read, apply yourself. If you want to be a professional athlete train hard, study different techniques, watch film, come to practice early and leave late. Ask your coach questions, study your opponenets, respect the game, take care of your body, get your grades, take your craft seriously. I could go on and on. Failure is not an option. If you have a dream or goal plan it out. Write it down and outline everything you need to do to reach that status. Speak it into exsistence, believe, be confident(not cocky) and dont MAKE EXCUSES. Dream about it then get it done!

This motto was developed by a couple good friends of mine; Trey and Treyce Gladney(Twins) and Ndudi Ebi. This creed helped the twins graduate from the University of Minnesota and obtain their masters. This saying also drove Ndudi Ebi to become a McDonald's All American and to jump straight to the NBA out of high school.
Never let anyone tell you what you cant do. Aim high and think big! Do you know how many people told Avery Johnson he would never make it? Do you know what his response was? Go to Hell! Have the ultimate confidence in yourself. If you dont believe in yourself then nobody will. Dont be satisfied with working at McDonald's. Strive to be the shift leader, then manager, then an owner, then a C.E.O!....You get the picture. Dream big and put it in God's hands and sucess is right around the corner.
